Oct. 30th, 2006 12:14 amI took the dogs to the bay today, to the little spit of land down at the end of Ashby. After puttering on the little windsurfer's beach to the right of the parking lot, we went to the other side, where small rock cliffs rise from the bay. There's a set of steps leading down to two-foot-wide stretch of sand along water. I sat on the steps and let the dogs explore the narrow beach
Andy hadn't shown much interest in the water to this point. Lots of other interesting smells and sights. Suddenly, though, his focus changed and he literally pounced onto the water, flinging his fearless little 25 lb. fuzzball body a good five feet out into the bay, legs fully extended. He submerged, then reappeared. For a moment, seeing his little head bobbing above the surface, I thought I'd have to initiate a rescue. Silly me. He swam right out, ran to me and shook smelly bay water out of his fur. He has been a happy dog since.
