How do I get a scared little bird out of my living room?? I think the cat must have carried it in this morning -- it managed to fly up to the ceiling fan and is now sitting on a fan blade, cheeping pitifully. Its feathers look ruffled and damp, but it's not obviously injured.

I suppose "Aww, cute!" is not a helpful response... ;-)

If it's still in the house, put out a trail of of seed to the nearest door to entice it.

[livejournal.com profile] bk2w (he's the birdmaster, grew up with birds (note: not "raised by", I never said "raised by")) says:

"Lock up your other animals (dogs, cats, etc.), open the main door or whatever door is closest to the bird, stand on the opposite side of the fan from the door and make noise, and gesture at it with a broom."
